A FILM CLUB
What's it all about...?
Who doesn’t love a night at the movies?
For many, movies play a huge part in the way we view and interact with the world around us. They’re the topic of countless conversations between friends and strangers; a source of inspiration through the real or imagined stories of our favourite on screen characters; and a way to escape when all we want is to be distracted at the end of a hard day’s work.
At Cinésocials we're taking your favourite films and pairing them with carefully curated workshops and classes for the ultimate movie-inspired experience.
Whether it’s discovering a new passion or making us think differently about our surroundings, Cinésocials is about bridging the divide between art and reality and making the world a better place.
The credits have just rolled on your favourite movie. But rather than signalling the end of your evening, you’re now given the chance to experience your favourite scene in REAL LIFE.
For now, all of our films are pulled from Netflix's catalogue, with the screenings taking place via the free browser extension, 'StreamParty.' This means that anyone wishing to join will require a Netflix account. The subsequent workshops are carried out using Zoom video conferencing. A Zoom account is not required. To see what other requirements we have, click 'how does it work?' below or at the top of the page to find out more.
Who are we...?
Cinésocials was founded by Dan Crow in 2019. Dan has worked in film and television for over 10 years having studied film at the University of Leeds in the UK. Moving to Vancouver in 2016, Dan was struck by the overwhelming role film plays in the day-to-day life of the city and its inhabitants - walk through downtown Vancouver and you're almost certain to stumble onto a film set!
Through Cinésocials, Dan is hoping to show off the very best of Vancouver by using film to shine a light on the wealth of creative talent the city has to offer.
